Together We'll Ring In the New Year

Ok... so the title of this blog is also the name of a Motion City Soundtrack song... but I felt it was appropriate enough to steal it.
So it's the big New Year's Eve! Not to rain on anyone's parade, but thus far, I haven't had very many fun New Year's Eves. This year isn't looking horrible, but not overly exciting either. My parents are having a group of families over that they're friends with. I'm not sure if anyone who is coming will be my age or not... but I'm kind of expected to be here.
Kay stayed over last night and we exchanged our Christmas gifts. She really seemed to like hers, so that was good. I did a pretty good job picking out presents for people this year I think. Everyone seemed really happy with them. She just left about an hour ago to spend New Years with Zach... reminding me once again of my boyfriend-less state. Not that it bugs me constantly but when I see Kay and Zach... she's just so happy having him there for her. But anyway moving on...
Some good news today! I got my ACT scores back, and I got a 27! I was really happy with a 27. Hell, I would've been happy with a 23! Haha. It was a pretty good feeling.
Hope everyone has a Happy New Year!
See you next year...

"Together We'll Ring In The New Year"
this must be it
welcome to the new year
the drinks were consumed
the plants were destroyed and the hor'deurves dismantled
i'm not smiling behind this fake veneer
i am often interrupted or completely ignored
but most of all i'm bored
i'm trying to find out if my words have any meaning
lackluster and full of contempts when it always ends the same
why won't you listen to me
why did i come
oh why did i come here
these humans all suck
i'd rather be home feeling violent and lonely
i'm not trying to sound so insincere
but the postcard that's taped to the freezer reads "wish you were here"
how i wish i could disappear
i'm trying to find out if my words have any meaning
lackluster and full of contempts and it always ends the same
heads up damage control there's a ring around her finger
last chance for changing lanes and you missed it by a mile
why won't you listen to me
this must be it
welcome to the new year

Merry Christmas!

And merry it is indeed. I woke up early this morning to let the dog out... it was about 6:30... and I didn't feel like going back down to my room so I took a nap on the couch until everyone else was up and about. We ate breakfast and all that good stuff, then opened up presents.
And guess what?!?!
I GOT MY iPod nano!!!!!
That's actually the reason I'm on the computer right now... because I'm working on uploading some songs. I was sooo happy to get it... It's awesome.
I also got a stereo hookup for it that doubles as an alarm clock... it's great. Otherwise... I got a few new accessories for my room... 2 hawaiian-like signs and a floorlamp (with a palm tree scene-it's really great) and matching little table thing. Oh and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" on DVD... the one with Johnny Depp. Love that movie.
My grandparents are here now and Adam (my older brother) and Krystal (his fiance) are coming over later so I'd better go grace them with my presence.
I hope you all had as great of a Christmas as I did!
Merry Christmas and love to all...

'Twas the day before Christmas...eve

It's December 23rd and Christmas is almost here! Once again the Christmasy feel is all around and everyone is in the giving mood!
That's right, I'm officially broke now. I spent so much money on Christmas presents that I should have gifts popping out of my ears, and yet I only managed to get presents for my sisters, brother, and two of my friends, Kayla and Leah. The gift I'm giving to my parents didn't cost a dime- it's a painting I've been working on for the past month or so. Actually when I give it to them it won't be quite finished, there's still a few things here and there left to do.
Our annual Christmas eve ritual is pretty simple, really. We go to the 7:00 service at church (I love Christmas service... it's the best one there is). After all, no matter what everyone says, the holiday season is about Christmas and the birth of Christ and "Happy Holidays" just doesn't cut it (even if it is "politically correct"). After service we all pile into the car- me, my sisters, brother, parents, and my grandparents- and head over to Murphy Park for the "Reflections in the Park" light show. Then we all head home and go to sleep... waiting for Santa to come ho-ho-ho-ing down the chimney.
Chrsitmas morning is what I always look forward to- before it's light out. I sneak upstairs and take a peek at the Christmas tree... with all it's pretty lights and the unopened gifts underneath. It may be a bit juvenile, but that's the joy of Christmas, right?
This year, we're going up to Minnesota on Monday to go to the Mall of America (woohoo!). We'll be there from Monday to Wednesday. Should be a good time.
In regard to camp- Christmas is a happy time, because it means we're about halfway to a new summer and new memories. There's also the annual camp skate party at Skate Country in Dubuque (which I always say I'm going to but never end up making it).
Well, I'd better go for now. Mom's nagging at me to go get the mail... and I wouldn't want to get her upset right before Christmas- after all, Santa's watching!
Merry Christmas to all...

The Beginning

Well,
I have decided to create an online journal, especially for view by my camp girls. I will try and keep it up, see how it goes. Who knows? This could be a lot of fun.
I'm planning on writing about anything and everything... all the things that happen to me between summers. I'll rant and rave and try my best to keep you entertained.
That's all for now... just introducing the blog. Hopefully I will find time to write in detail and begin this thing right!
I love you all...
