Yesterday was quite a day. I was at school when my principal came to get me during first block. He told me my mom had called and that she thought she had broken her leg. Well I went home, and sure enough, there was my mom lying in the kitchen, waiting for the ambulance. Our neighbors were over taking care of her until it got there.
Turns out Mom was riding our new horse yesterday and it got going a little bit and slipped on the blacktop, coming down and trapping my mom's leg underneath. She had pulled herself onto the golf cart, driven it up to the house with her left leg, since her right was broken, and pulled herself into the house to her phone (because she never carries her cell phone and she was riding alone). The EMTs came and cut off her boot (a sad thing really) and put her in a splint to take her to the hospital.
I rode in the ambulance with my mom (that was the fun part) to Finley, where we waited for LONG periods of time in between doctors, nurses, etc. coming in at various times. Dad was there, and we were all just waiting to hear what the damage was.
Turns out she broke her leg in 3 places on the one bone and one on another (the one with 3 is the one you walk on, the one that was only broke once was unimportant apparently. I never knew there was a bone in your leg that isn't used, but the surgeon assured us that there was.)
So now she has a huge plaster cast up above her knee. She stayed in the hospital last night and was supposed to come home today, but they're keeping her another night.
In other words, I'm trying to keep everything together at home and it isn't working out so well. Dad and I were arguing, I've been trying to keep the kids in line (which is pretty much impossible since they have no respect whatsoever for me.), and no home cooked meals for a while! Dinner tonight was made by me and consisted of pizza and macaroni & cheese. Gourmet!
You never realize how much your mom does until you have to do it yourself.
